Full text linking from Commander 7.0 SP2

At present, full text linking from CrossFire Commander 7.0 SP2 (where the installation file was downloaded from Mimas after 2nd April 2007) uses DiscoveryGate Literature Services (DGLS) as an intermediary website.

As a result of Elsevier having sold MDL to Symyx, DGLS will no longer be available to CrossFire users after 31st March 2008.

Users of Commander 7.0 SP2 who will be affected by this change, and who wish to retain the ability to follow full text links from the Commander, have two options:

  1. (Recommended) Uninstall Commander 7.0 SP2, download and install Commander 7.1. Commander 7.1 uses your institutional OpenURL Resolver to locate full text articles, or , if your institution does not have an OpenURL Resolver, it uses Elsevier's CrossFire Literature Service Resolver instead. (n.b. This option is not possible for Windows 2000 users.)

  2. Or download a small file litlink.re1, rename it to litlink.reg, and double click it to run it (this requires administrator rights). This will make Commander 7.0 SP2 use Elsevier's CrossFire Literature Service Resolver.

Full text linking from versons of the CrossFire Commander 7.0 SP2 or earlier downloaded from Mimas prior to 2nd April 2007, and from 19 March 2008, has automatically been redirected to use Elsevier's CrossFire Literature Service Resolver. Version 7.1 uses Elsevier's CrossFire Literature Service Resolver.
