The Gmelin Database
The Gmelin Database is the sister database to Beilstein, covering inorganic
and organometallic compounds from 1772 to date. Again based on a
German publication, the Gmelin Handbuch der anorganischen Chemie, the
database currently comprises over 2.5 million compounds, including glasses, alloys,
ceramics, minerals and coordination compounds, 1.9 million reactions and 1.3 million citations.
Gmelin also contains over 500,000 titles, abstracts and keywords. It is now possible to search
reactions in Gmelin in the same way as the Beilstein
database.
Gmelin has wide application outside the chemistry field, as it contains
information for (among others) materials scientists, biologists, biochemists,
medicinal chemists, geologists and mineralogists.
